1908 wants to have your sound.
1908 believes that you might be useful.
1908 is beginning a new album, for which integral component parts will be contributions from 1908 listeners. These contributions may be new or old. They may be of any length, and in any audio format, of as high or as low of quality as possible. They may be of any scrutability, consistency, versatility, virtuosity, interest or non-interest. They may be of any event, incident, action, ambience, occurance or function, provided that they are in some degree audible. They should not contain music or musical instruments, but can if deemed necessary.
The more arbitrary the better. The less irreplaceable and unreproducible the better.
The worse the better.
The only non-negotiable condition this sound you contribute will fulfill is that it must be original, and the sounds taking place must somehow be or have been influenced by you; in other words, we do not take the concept of it being your sound lightly, and we demand you do the same. Therefore: if you record the sound of the conversation of two people unknown to you, you should cough loudly enough to distract them (if possible, frequently). If you record the sound of twelve toilets flushing, you should be the one flushing them. If you record a radio commercial, you must twiddle the knob. If you record footsteps, you should be the one stepping on them.
If you feel that you cannot contribute sounds without their having been submitted to post-recording alterations or improvements deemed fit by you to impose upon them, we will not insist otherwise. However, as they are intended for such treatment/s by 1908, the fewer such alterations the better.
1908 intends to use all sounds received, but will reserve the discretion to delete your shitty demo love ballads and your unedited, two-hour tapes of tennis matches, amongst other like-mindedly unimaginative contributions. (And, in all honesty, the latter will stand a much better chance than the former.)
Sound (and unsound) contributions are to be added using the form on the following page.
1908 is waiting.
